Our Patriot’s Journey

On May 19, 2012, we took Robert to Stone Mountain Park, one of the most intriguing and beautiful views in Georgia.  Stone Mountain is the largest exposed mass of granite in the world and features the largest high relief sculpture in the world.  The park is a family oriented state park offering various family activities such as:  hiking, camping, golf, etc.   Robert traveled to the top of the mountain in the sky lift and took a small hike around the top of the mountain with us.

We left two of Robert's photos on different window ledges inside the viewing building at the top of the mountain.  On the way down the mountain, we placed a photo inside the sky lift, and we left one inside the historical building that holds a replica of the memorial carving on the side of the mountain.

From the top of Stone Mountain, you can see for about 60 miles, including a picturesque view of the Atlanta skyline.  I've enclosed photos of our latest venture with Robert.  Thank you for allowing my husband and I to honor Robert's memory by continuing his journey.

Best regards,
Karen Griffin Dean
