Special Words .... Special Links

In Honor of Our Military Men and Women

Some of these web site links go directly to articles regarding Robert and his fellow NC National Guardsmen.  Others are sites we specifically chose for their relevance to and about our American military members and their families.  We hope you will find them interesting and inspirational.

Stop and Smell the People -- a blog by Mike Redding, who is and has been a very kind recorder of the lives and sometimes deaths of our NC military members.

The Daily KOS -- An article memorializing Robert and his fellow NC Army National Guardsmen killed in Iraq June 29, 2009.

Ultimate Sacrifice Memorial -- A memorial to our military killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Patriot Guard -- “Standing for those who stood for us.”

We do not know who Mr. Province is, or how to find him to ask permission to post his work here; but somehow we feel he wouldn’t mind it being placed on this web site .... we’re sure he understands what we are feeling and what his words mean to us and military families everywhere.

IT IS THE SOLDIER

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
